Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some frequently asked questions. You might find your answer here.
What happens if a device develops a fault or is accidentally damaged?
Faults and damage are logged through the Edge Fault Reporting Portal. The student is issued a temporary replacement from the school’s contingency device pool, so learning is not disrupted while the device is repaired and returned.
What is the contingency device pool for?
The contingency pool ensures students always have access to a working device. It is typically used for faults, accidental damage, repairs, or temporary replacement needs. All devices are tracked through the Edge Estate Tracking System.
How quickly are devices repaired?
Once faults are logged and the contingency pool reaches the agreed threshold, Edge arranges collection, repair, and return. Repairs are typically completed within 5 working days of receipt, with a maximum turnaround of 10 working days.
How are parent payments managed?
Parent payments are handled directly between Edge and the parent through the Edge Parent Payment Portal, removing administration and financial liability from the school
What payment options are available to parents?
Parents can usually choose from flexible options including monthly payments, quarterly payments, or a one-off payment to purchase the device outright.
What happens if a parent misses a payment?
Edge manages missed payments directly with the parent, including automated collection attempts and follow-up contact. The school does not carry responsibility for managing individual parent accounts.
What happens if a student leaves or joins the school?
If a student leaves, Edge continues to manage the payment agreement directly with the parent. If a new student joins after launch, they can enrol through the same sign-up process, with devices tracked and allocated through the Edge Estate Tracking System.
How does the school pay for the programme?
Schools typically pay through a quarterly lease arrangement, though monthly or annual schedules can also be agreed to suit budgeting requirements
Can lease payments be deferred at the start of the programme?
Yes. Edge can defer the start of lease payments to support rollout and allow parent enrolments to begin before the first school payment falls
What lease options are available?
Schools can choose between a Finance Lease, where devices are retained at the end of term, or an Operating Lease, which offers the option to return, refresh, or purchase devices at the end of the programme.
How long can the lease term be
Lease terms are available from 1 to 5 years, allowing schools to align the programme with their refresh cycle and budget strategy.
